December 2022 Updates

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever! ~ Psalm 107:1

It’s the time of year where seasons are changing from fall to winter and from a time of Thanksgiving to Advent. This year the change feels more pronounced with all of the changes and blessings that God has brought in my life over the past 12 months. Before leaving this season of Thanksgiving, I’ve been reflecting on God’s blessings in my life and it has left me in awe.

Praise the Lord - 40% of the funds needed to support my role at TBC have been pledged or given for 2023!! Thank all of you who have generously provided financial support to TBC to allow me to serve there. You are helping to spread the gospel in southwest Alaska.

God's blessings in my life are abundant and I'd love to share a few more...

First, Ellie turned 20 on November 16th! What a blessing God gave me in being a mom, especially a mom to Ellie. In light of soon being 3700 miles apart, spending Thanksgiving with her was incredibly sweet. Secondly, I was able to spend a week visiting friends that have been part of my life for the past 25 years. They are an incredible bunch that has always helped me step out of my comfort zone and continue to do so. I'm hoping they choose to step out of their comfort zone and visit me in Alaska! Finally, I’m so incredibly grateful to Village Bible Church (my home church), all of the leaders there and for all of the friendships and relationships that the Lord has brought into my life from Village. Some of my Village story is in this video as part of the church series
“That’s My Story”.

There's so much about Village that reminds me of TBC including the commitment and grounding in God's Word. Just before I came back to Illinois I was able to attend bible class with the TLC students where they were putting Genesis Chapter 3 into their own words as part of their preparation for teaching their own Bible lesson. I didn't get to stick around to see those, but I hear they were pretty amazing! The TLC students will do a survey of the entire Bible through the year.

I'm currently working from Illinois to support the ministry with bookkeeping, human resources and various other administrative tasks that can be done remotely and waiting (patiently) on the Lord to bring the rest of the necessary funds or pledges to make the move to Port Alsworth. When I get back it will help lighten the load of what people on site have to do in my absence as well as allow me to be involved in the day to day ministry that can only happen when on site!

My remaining support needed for 2023 is approximately $30,000. I'd love to finish the year strong and be 60% or more funded by the end of December.

If you would like to partner with the ministry of TBC for my staff support and help me get back to Port Alsworth, you can give a one time or recurring donation by clicking the link below. Select 'Staff Support' and my name on the dropdown menu. Or reach out to me and I’d love to connect with you in person.

Prayer is ministry. Thanks to all of you who have prayed and continue to faithfully pray for the ministry at TBC. Please join me in prayer for the following.

  • Praise for a full year of summer camp ministry this year after 2 years of disruption due to the pandemic

  • Praise for the successful opening of Properly Ground (TLC's coffee shop)

  • For lives to be changed as a result of the ministry at TBC

  • For the staff to be encouraged and work in unity for the mission at TBC in the coming year

  • For my practical needs of housing, transportation and financial support to be in Port Alsworth full time

  • For the summer volunteers who will be coming to share their time and talents

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN EVERY WAY!
Merry Christmas - may you richly experience the ultimate blessing of the birth of our Savior this season.
